Although severe cold crippled many services this winter, Moraine Township’s door-to-door van service for seniors and disabled residents continued operating to get people to needed medical appointments.
“While many residents opted to cancel non-critical trips, we were able to keep the van operating to help our residents access critical medical services,” said Linda Contreras, who manages the township van schedule. “We kept operating to ensure that patients needing life-saving dialysis, a resident with long-scheduled surgery, and others with difficult to reschedule appointments got where they needed to go.”
Moraine Township’s door-to-door van transports seniors and disabled residents to appointments up to 15 miles from the township border Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and can be booked 48 hours in advance. Medical appointments are a priority, but if the schedule permits, residents can use the van for grocery shopping or other needs. Call 847-432-3000 to schedule an appointment.
